About You and this Role

Are you passionate about building and scaling cloud-native enterprise platforms? As a Senior Software Engineer on our Cloud team in Recife, you will help design, implement, and operate core platform tools and cloud infrastructure that power Liferay Cloud globally. You bring a solid working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, container technologies and distributed backend architectures, handling complex engineering challenges independently under minimal supervision. You thrive in a highly collaborative global environment and take initiative to drive reliable, scalable solutions.

 

Key Objectives

  • Independently design, build, and maintain robust, scalable software and platform infrastructure for Liferay Cloud, operating under minimal supervision
  • Own production reliability: lead incident response, monitor SLOs/SLIs, and drive blameless postmortems through to completed action items
  • Analyze and resolve complex architectural, performance, and automation issues, referring only the most complex systemic problems to higher leadership 
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve CI/CD pipelines, system reliability, and overall developer experience across cloud environments.
  • Embed security into the platform: secrets management, least-privilege IAM, container image scanning, and supply-chain integrity
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and mentor mid-level and associate engineers.Suggest improvements and be humble enough to accept suggestions. Everyone learns from everyone, no matter how brilliant you are.
  • Work closely with Design and Product Managers to implement the shared vision.

 

Required Qualifications

  • +Strong experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering, including software engineering fundamentals: version control, automated testing, code review.
  • Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes and containers (Docker/OCI): deployment, scaling, troubleshooting, and resource management.
  • Degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Understand and share the values of agile development.
  • Write high quality code on at least one of the following languages:, Javascript, Go, with the ability to write and maintain production-quality code
  • Proficient with Git (or any other DVCS) and related branching patterns.
  • Experience with a major public cloud (AWS and Azure preferred, GCP considered) and with infrastructure as code
  • Solid Linux fundamentals, networking, and databases
  • You have strong learning skills; if you don’t know something, you’re willing (and capable) of learning it.
  • Fully comfortable working in English and Portuguese, both written and spoken. Some of your teammates will be in the Americas, Asia or Europe.
  • Good communication skills. You can clearly explain complex technical subjects to other people.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on a DXP platform or Liferay Portal 7.0+
  • Experience operating a multi-tenant platform: tenant isolation, capacity planning, noisy-neighbor mitigation
  • Experience with GitOps tooling (ArgoCD, Flux) and progressive delivery
  • Experience with observability stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
  • Experience with API infrastructure and gateway/service mesh technologies
  • Cloud cost optimization / FinOps experience
  • It's a big plus if you're a contributor to open source, hackathons, meetups or whatever-related to coding.
  • Experience with managed Kubernetes services:
    • Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
    • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    • Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
  • Certifications such as: 
    • CKA, CKAD, or CKS
    • HashiCorp Terraform Associate
    • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, DevOps Engineer, Security Engineer, or Network Engineer
